I seem to remember reading about a couple of lawmen who swore they were gonna get a certain outlaw.......(relatively recent history)....the person in question took it as a challenge and robbed a bank in the Marshalls town and got clean away, at high noon.......

Marshal was a bit miffed......and made another asinine statement....the following week the feller robbed a second bank, same town...same time....got clean away.....
One embarrassed law enforcement weenie.....

The marshall was fit to be tied...tried to bait the feller, had deputies inside all the banks........
Marshall had a brand new Ford V-8 police car.......while they were watching the banks the feller stole the police car......they found it a week later in a barn with the running gear removed and a old engine and transmission on the ground.....

a couple years later....
The bank robber had never fired a shot or injured anyone during a robbery...but the Marshall was out for blood.....the robber was wanted dead or alive.....he came in dead....autopsy showed a shotgun blast at close range, several pistol rounds, but he wasn't carrying a weapon...
such activities occurred right up into the early 60's at least....the law was the law......then we started getting law enforcement types that had a least a high school education and some semblance of professional training.

That werent Inola, In the 70s was it? We had a lawman there who got in a scuffle with a perp. Shot him in the heart,killed him. Never drew his weapon. It was in his holster discharged accidentally.

I'd have to disagree with George about Scot. "It appears that Scot is done backing up George when George instigates trouble with bigger kids." might have been better.
BTW- I never thought Scot was an ass. I disagreed with his judgement on occasion but I never thought he was an ass. He's always been fair to me and others and it wouldn't surprise me if GR got a message at some point saying that "This is the last time I save you. Time to grow up or shut up."
Thanks for letting it ride Scot. He finally had to delete it himself and nobody got banned for taking the carrot. Wise choice in my opinion.

I wonder if George was trying to get some people banned. So they wouldn't be able to post about the trial tomorrow. The timing was pretty odd. Also odd to attack Scot like that after all the protection Scot has given him. Maybe he is more worried about the trial than he has been letting on.

I missed the later fallout, but I was also baffled by the original post. I don't care if I get banned or not, but, if he could twist posts in some way to benefit him in his court case, that would be a new low.

I hope for the best, for all people, even the people who screw up royally. And there is, nearly always, a way out of hell for them if they are interested. But for the sociopaths that aren't interested, what can you do?

As I recall it, it was a thread where George did not complain. Anyway, it was not about the various crud that was larded on. George Roberts is often sanctimoniously and selfishly and anti-seamanly annoying and worse, but that's not a reason to snicker over his bike crash. We've seen his picture in the magazine and know that his boats and his paddeling are finastkind.
