John Farmer

(c.1560- ?)

In fact, the only solid information we have for this composer is for the years between 1591 and 1601 when he was active first in Dublin and then in London.

English composer and organist of Holy Trinity (now Christ
Church) Cathedral, Dublin, between c.1595 and c.1599,
but otherwise lived in London. His madrigals of 1599 are
unassuming but attractive, and he supplied many competent
4-part psalm settings for East's and Ravenscroft's psalters,
and instrumental music for anthologies by Simpson and
Rosseter. He contributed a madrigal, "Fair nymphs I heard
one telling", to The Triumphs of Oriana.
